"Big Red Robe" is one of the most famous rocky teas (yancha) straight from the cradle of all oolongs, Wu Yi Shan in Fujian province. Thanks to the local climate and the rocky soil rich on minerals, the tea acquires special characteristics which are later deepened by traditional processing.
Due to its unique characteristics and taste, Da Hong Pao is often referred to as the 'King of Teas'. The colour of the leaves is dark brown, often with a charcoal sheen. The flavour is balanced, the aroma distinctive but delicate and pleasant, and the aftertaste long and sweet.
