The top grade of organically grown Gyokuro from the Yame region of the Gokou cultivar. The Yame area produces the best teas in Fukuoka Prefecture. The Gokou cultivar is characterized by its high amino acid content and full umami, making it an ideal cultivar for gyokuro production. Traditional shading for four weeks and masterful processing results in a uniquely delicious tea with intense umami and a long, sweet aftertaste.
The 'Hon' classification is given to Japanese teas that have been shaded using the traditional method using rice straws.
